June 30, 2020

fresh ProduceIf you want to know where to find local or international produce that’s both fresh and affordable, Redlands Ranch Market is your one-stop-shop.

In recent years, many people have taken an interest in eating more fresh local and international produce. That interest in healthier foods is increasing even more as a result of the recent pandemic prompting people to pay more attention to their health and safety. However, concerns about financial sustainability cause people to hesitate in their efforts to include healthier food options into their meals. If you’re one of those people who are looking to add affordable fresh local or international produce into your diet, look to us.

At Redlands Ranch Market, we’re serious about providing you with fresh produce. We don’t call ourselves Inland Empire’s favorite international grocery marketplace for no reason, either! Whether you’re looking for locally-sourced fresh produce or are wondering where to find fresh international produce, our marketplace has what you need.

We’re going to consider some of the fresh local produce we carry and some of the fresh international produce we carry. First, though, we’re going to consider the benefits of fresh produce and how you can implement them into your daily diet.

Benefits Of Fresh Produce

Since elementary school, we’ve been taught that fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains are all important aspects that make up a healthy diet. According to Freshway Foods, fresh fruits and vegetables and grains contain essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients that are essential for good health. In fact, research has shown that a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and grains may reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases.

There are some fresh fruits and vegetables and grains that provide specific nutrients vital to the body’s growth and health.

🍅Greens, leaf and romaine lettuce, and spinach are all Vitamin A nutrient. This vitamin is known to increase the health of the eyes and skin and protect the body from infection.

🍅Broccoli, Brussel sprouts, and cabbage are just a few of the veggies rich in Vitamin C. Incorporating these into your diet can aid in healthy teeth and gums and can help heal cuts and wounds.

🍅Veggies such as kale and okra are filled with calcium. Yes, calcium isn’t just a ‘milk’ thing. These veggies will help you build strong teeth and bones.

🍅Apples, bananas, peaches, pears, and other fruits and vegetables are high in fiber. If you eat these, your digestive system will thank you! You’ll also have a reduced risk of heart disease.

🍅Asparagus, peas, and beans are some foods that provide folate. This vitamin is one of the B-vitamins and is needed to make red and white blood cells in the bone marrow, convert carbohydrates into energy, and produce DNA and RNA.

🍅Beans, lentils, and spinach are high in iron so your blood could be healthy and your learning ability can be increased.

🍅Beans and spinach are also high in magnesium for healthy bones.

🍅Potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and other foods provide potassium so you can maintain healthy blood pressure levels.

How We Stay Fresh

We remove the middleman and get produce straight from the farmers’ hands and onto our shelves. If not the farmers’ hands, we source the freshest produce internationally to make sure our customers are eating food that is both tasty and healthy.

One primary benefit of being an independent grocer is that we can offer you the freshest produce. This is because farmers often send their product straight to us so we remove the middleman. That’s why we’re able to sell produce that has just been harvested at great prices!

Tangerines, nectarines, tomatoes, lettuce, broccoli, and the rainbows of cabbages and grapes are just a few of the fresh fruits and vegetables we offer. Grains such as oats and lentils and nuts such as walnuts and cashews are all also available as bulk items so you can purchase a large quantity of a large variety of fresh produce without drying out your wallet.

The Redlands Ranch team is also proud of our recently-expanded international department. Many of our customers have roots outside of the United States, so our way of showing honor and appreciation to all of our customers is by offering food items that give everyone a taste of their childhood, no matter where their childhood took place. In this department, we include some fresh international produce. Russian style dill pickles (kosher), green coffee beans from Ethiopia, fresh okra, and basmati rice and wheat flour from India are just a few.

How To Increase Fresh Produce Consumption

Incorporating fruits and vegetables doesn’t have to be complicated. It could be as simple as serving a small portion at every meal. The more you get used to seeing fresh produce on your plate, the easier it will be to start eating them. Think about it like this: If you rarely to never see fresh produce on your plate, the likelihood of you eating something that isn’t readily available to you is rare.

If you plan in advance the meals that you would like to eat, including snacks and on-the-go meals, you’ll more likely be able to incorporate fresh produce into your meal. It’s easy to grab something “fast” out of convenience if you’re in a rush, but if you prepare a healthy snack such as apple and peanut butter, you could grab it and go; you’ll still get the convenience of on-the-go snacking without compromising on your health! And remember: Foods such as apples, bananas, oranges, and other fruits are pre-packaged by nature…all you need to do is grab them and go.

If you are located in or near Redlands, the Inland Empire, or surrounding areas, Redlands Ranch Market is happy to offer both local and international fresh produce for everyone’s tastebuds and health.
