6-INGREDIENT DELICIOUS NEW YEAR'S EVE DINNER: SLOW COOKER CROCK POT ROAST

There are 3 things we love more than New Year’s itself: Roast beef, brisket, and a good seasoned hunk of tri-tip.

If you need ideas for tasty slabs of meat, check out the following delicious New Year’s dinner (featuring one of our favorite cuts of meat: roast beef). (If you prefer video for instructions, watch here.)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb boneless pork loin roast

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 1/2 tsp caraway seeds

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 4 lb sauerkraut

  • 1 lb kielbasa, cut into 3-inch pieces

Directions:

  1. In a skillet, on medium-high add the olive oil. Sprinkle the roast with salt and pepper and pan sear the roast to give a nice brown outside appearance, about 10 minutes.

  2. Place 2 pounds sauerkraut in a slow cooker. place the roast in the center. Sprinkle the roast with the caraway seeds. Cover with remaining sauerkraut.

  3. Cover slow cooker, and cook roast 4 hours on High. Brown the cut up kielbasa for about 5 minutes and place in slow cooker and continue to cook 2 more hours or until pork is tender. (Do check at 5 hours in as some slow cookers cook hotter than others. My daughters slow cooker cooks really hot compared to mine.)

If this isn’t easy (3-steps… c’mon!) then we don’t know what is!

5-MINUTE NEW YEAR'S EVE DRINK: WINTER BEER SANGRIA

There’s no denying that most people love a good, spicy bottle of champagne or a smooth, relaxing glass of wine to bring in the new year. But this year, we’re helping you out by talking about the underrated celebration drink: beer.

If you don’t know by now, we have a thing for beer (if you haven’t checked out our beer cave yet, we’re definitely side-eyeing you).

“A smooth blend of fruity rye whiskey, spiced winter lager and (mostly) seasonal fruit. A rather harmonious flavor composition with each ingredient complementing the rest for a delightful and not overly sweet sangria.”

Check out the full recipe here.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz rye whiskey

  • 2 12 oz bottles of spiced winter lager/ale

  • 12 oz sparkling water, citrus or berry flavored recommended

  • 2 oz orange juice

  • 1 blood orange sliced thin

  • 1 common orange, Valencia, Navel, Cara Cara sliced thin

  • 1/2 cup halved red seedless grapes

  • 1/2 cup blackberries

  • 1/2 cup cranberries

  • 4-5 cloves

  • 2 cinnamon sticks plus more for garnish

  • 2 sprigs of rosemary plus more for garnish

You can find all the listed ingredients at our market! Our produce department carries produce straight from the orchards and fields of local vendors so you’re getting fresh ingredients that are in season!

Directions:

  1. Wash and cut (as appropriate) all the fruit and arrange in layers at the bottom of a pitcher.

  2. Add the cloves, cinnamon sticks and rosemary.

  3. Add the rye whiskey and the orange juice and let the fruit soak for a few minutes.

  4. If you are going to serve the winter beer sangria right away prepare glasses with ice cubes and fruit/rosemary garnish, otherwise consider refrigerating it until needed. Optional – prepare extra cinnamon sticks for garnish and to use as straws if desired.

  5. When ready to serve add the sparkling water first and then the beer. When you add the beer pause frequently to let the foam dissipate.

  6. Gently stir everything together and once the fruit settles to the bottom pour into glasses.

Tip: Once that first pitcher is all gone (instantaneously it seems) keep the fruit, cinnamon and cloves in it and quickly start all over with the splash of OJ, the rye whiskey, the flavored sparkling water and of course – the spiced beer of your choice.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese softened

  • 36 crushed Golden Oreos

  • 3 teaspoons Brown Sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

  • 16 oz. white baking chocolate

  • Shimmer white sugar sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Use a blender or food processor to crush the Golden OREOs into fine crumbs.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, brown sugar and cinnamon.

  3. Mix the cream cheese and OREO cookie crumbs until blended.

  4. Make 48 balls about 1 inch in diameter. Freeze the balls for at least 10 min.

  5. Melt the white chocolate. I like to use my fondue pot on a low temperature so the white chocolate stays melted. Dip the balls in melted white chocolate and place them in a single layer on a shallow waxed paper-lined pan.

  6. After 5-10 minutes, dip the white chocolate covered OREO cookie balls in shimmer white sugar sprinkles to coat them evenly.

  7. Refrigerate the OREO Cookie Balls for one hour or until firm.

Whether you’re in New York awaiting the ball dropping in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, or you’re somewhere else, these sweets are bound to to help you ring in the new year!
